Eco-Friendly

Thermal modification simply requires high heat, water vapor, and an oxygen-free environment. Thermally modified Appalachian hardwood is an eco-friendly alternative to tropical or pressure treated wood.

Stable Through Seasonal Changes

Through thermal modification, the physical properties of the wood are changed at a cellular level, creating an incredibly stable product that is impervious to water. Because of this, thermally modified wood resists, swelling, cupping, or warping.

Beautiful Carmel Hue

The thermal modification process transforms light colored wood to a beautiful chocolate-caramel color. With exposure to sunlight, thermally modified wood will silver. If you'd prefer to prevent this natural patina, apply a UV-protectant oil yearly.

Rot & Insect Resistant

Thermal modification removes organic compounds from wood cells leaving no trace of food for insect of fungi. Therefore, thermally modified wood is extremely durable and will last decades.

Stays Cooler in the Sun

Composite and vinyl decking materials can be unbearable hot in the sun. The improved insulating qualities of thermally modified wood make it much more inviting for barefoot summer days.

Low Maintenance

Thermally modified wood requires little to no maintenance. If you prefer to maintain the rich chocolate color instead of letting the wood silver naturally, apply a UV-protectant oil yearly.
